Today members of the StopTheGRbullies.com group tried repeatedly to doc-drop highly personal information of two people onto a rivalry blog site called GenXpose. Fortunately, the posts were being moderated for such activity and never went live. The question now is how far will the STGRB go to threaten the people they now have full profiles on? Will they post it live on their site, or pass it along?
Doc-Dropping is a SERIOUS offense, and a site which claims to be ‘anti-bully’ knows full well what they are doing is DANGEROUS. They did it before and was slammed hard for it. They skated on the fact that it is technically legal, and then summarily dismissed the deplorable nature of this method.
In an odd twist of fate, they killed any momentum they might of had for gathering respectable support for their cause. Why? The message for such tactics are unmistakable: they are issuing a clear physical threat that says “I know where you live! I can get to you! Be afraid!!” And now the safety of two people’s lives are at risk if these radical extremist ‘bullies’ follow through with their threat.
To make matters worse, they identified the WRONG person to profile. They believe they are outing the blogger GenX, but they have actually gathered information on someone else. Why this other person? They took the single word of Carroll Bryant who speculated who GenX really is. No facts. No proof. That was all they needed, as always.
For the last few months their site focused on bashing and thrashing the online persona’s of people they didn’t like, but not on outing their real life identities. While they were outrageous in their storytelling and twisted facts after facts, they remained relatively harmless. In fact, for many they became a go-to site to get a quick laugh. Think about it: a so-called anti-bully site that does nothing but bully their ‘enemies’ and coddle authors who got busted for scamming and gaming the system?! It is a ridiculous notion and quite humorous if you don’t take them seriously.
They claim to stand against those who write reviews about the author and not the book. So guess what?! Most of the names on their side bar have never done that. Most of the names quietly appeared over time and were never even mentioned on their site. These are the people who simply spoke out against their tactics, or who mocked their sensationalized and highly edited yellow journalism style. So being named on their side-bar became a badge of honor, and it created many new friendships where we could laugh at the ridiculousness of their actions.
But if they continue back down the path they veered away from months ago, I fear what will come next. Who will be hurt? And how prey tell does any of this show support to Self Publish Authors who are (in their own words) getting bullied?

I don't post much about the STGRB these days. They don't warrant my time, IMO. I think most people can see they are yellow journalists (to put it nicely!) and have an obvious and very personal agenda against a group of reviewers and their friends. They have given themselves the power to make rules, and by that measure they grant themselves permission to accuse anyone they damn well please.
Their site is riddled full with bullying tactics of their own, so only a fool would believe their agenda is against internet bullying.
There are countless examples of other authors and reviewers arguing online, but they are only interested in targeting the ones who went after Melissa Douthit, and a few other authors who were way out of line.
